"Over the past year I have had the distinct pleasure of utilizing the wedding planning services of Marie Drinkhouse at Uptown Weddings and Events. The result of these services culminated in the creation of an outstanding wedding celebration on April 5th, 2008 for my husband, me and our guest.

Beyond our satisfaction with the wedding day celebration, is my personal gratitude to Marie for making the wedding planning experience so easy, joyful, and customized to my desires as a first time bride. During our first meeting, Marie's personable,down to earth style, and adept listening skills, eased my anxieties of wedding planning nightmares.

Over the course of the 7 months we worked together, Marie consistently worked to understand what my personal aspirations were for the wedding festivities and coached me to settle for nothing less. For example, during our first florist meeting, in describing my desired floral scheme I shared that purple was a favorite color of mine. Later in the meeting, the forist created a sample display for us which although beautiful, did not include my preferred color. After looking at the display I agreed to move ahead with the recommended sample thinking: "what do I know compared to this savvy florist?"

In the parking lot after the meeting, Marie gently questioned why I agreed to move ahead with these arrangements without my favorite color. She explained that a good florist could adapt their displays to incorporate my preferences. I agreed to check out another florist. The following week, Marie opened the meeting with this florist stating "it is really important that purple flowers are in all arrangements."

As a busy consultant, frequently traveling around the globe, Marie kept the momentum going on wedding planning logistics while simultaneously checking in with me on key decision points. She also utilized my time efficiently, prescreening vendors prior to our meetings and using the parking lots both pre and post meetings to quickly review outstanding items requiring my "in-person" input.

Marie also displayed a discerning taste on key aesthetic choices such as flowers, the table set-up, and other guest amenities on the wedding day. She strived to work within my budget, recommending where and how to cut cost and when to invest. Looking back, her choices were on spot! For example, Marie encouraged me to invest in a higher end porta-pottie for our outdoor wedding which proved to be quite a crowd pleaser!

Overall, I would highly recommend Marie as a wedding planning resource for anyone looking to reduce the stress of being a bride in a large or small wedding, and interested in working with someone who is personable and who's only agenda is to help you realize your personal wedding hopes and dreams-or your budget!"

"Marie was the wedding planner and coordinator for our wedding on October 17th, 2009. Her help was invaluable, especially since we were planning an out-of-town wedding.

Marie suggested some great local vendors, arranged meetings with them, took care of all communications, made sure all our questions were answered, ran errands for us and provided support all along the way.

I am very particular about what I want, and Marie was great at listening to my requests and making sure they were accommodated. She also had several great suggestions about the decorations, floral arrangements, etc. - that really made a big difference in the end. For example, we were hesitant at first about using a DJ, since we didn't want someone to take over the reception. But Marie assured us that having a DJ would make the reception a lot more fun, and that she will be able to find one to suit our needs. And she was right. Now we're happy that we hired one.

Above all, I think the main thing is how Marie handled all the challenges. When we had too much reception space for the amount of guests, she had an idea how to make the space work and be more intimate. The place did look fantastic in the end! When we decided at our rehearsal that we do want a limo, she was able to make that last-minute arrangement. When we were running late the day of the wedding, and vendors were getting lost, Marie was on top of everything, and made sure everything went according to plan.

Marie was also very pleasant to deal with, personable, and supportive. I highly recommend her services!
